Made some cowboy coffee from the grounds in the hiker box to go with leftover pizza for breakfast. Interesting choice.
Hiked out on to relatively flat but rocky trail. Pennsylvania is known to be rocky and I think its just warming up. Some areas you can only step from stone to stone. And some of them move.
This ends up being slow and a good foot workout.
Hit some trail magic at a road crossing. Four Legs had come up to give out food and drinks to hikers. Trail magic can be any random act of kindness or other surprising good fortune for hikers.
I had a Coke and met Pat who was also hiking on the trail. He said Avalanche, Smiley, and Blowtorch are actually ahead of me. Unclear how this happened but means I might get to see them again which is cool.
Got to Eagles Nest shelter but was hoping to make a little more progress. I got some water and headed on to try to find a campsite midway between the shelter and Port Clinton.
I ended up settling for a mediocre spot along the trail. Was hoping to find a spring mentioned in the guide but no such luck. Good thing I brought water.
First bear hang of the trip. Not great, not terrible.
Lined up a shuttle to get me in and out of Hamburg tomorrow. We'll see how big of a boondoggle this "quick" resupply ends up being.
