Woke up early to get down off the ridge and into Port Clinton in time to catch my ride.
Rocky and steep downhill but made it in plenty of time. Passed a fun chunk of coal that must have been mined locally. There's quite a bit of mining heritage in the area.
Got picked up by Pip who already had a few hikers on board. Pip said she was going to go pickup Crazy B so maybe I'll see her out there on the trail!
I was dropped off at Walmart which was somewhat overwhelming but having lots of choices for food is really nice.
After that I walked the mile to Cracker Barrel. It was one of the few restaurants in walking distance that had real food. Unfortunately either nobody has a day job around here or they all have good Friday off because it was packed. 20 minute wait to sit down.
The menu at Cracker Barrel is astonishing. I've started to develop my hiker hunger and still many of the items just sound like way too much food for one person. I settled for beyond meat sausage patties, eggs, and pancakes. Oh, and coffee, lots of coffee.
The wait to sit down meant I missed my window for the shuttle so my pick up was delayed by about an hour.
Pip drove me back to Port Clinton around noon. I got the local bar to fill up my water (they threatened to put a black and tan in it). Dropped off some extra oatmeal at the post office hiker box and hit the trail.
The vicious downhill coming in to town was matched by the uphill going out. Soon I was back on the ridge and making progress.
Beautiful views from Pulpit Rock and The Pinnacle. Perhaps they would have been better without overcast skies, but it was cool to see for miles.
Decided to camp near Panther Creek. Making my way there I passed a spring. I really liked the marker.
It was a little later than usual when I stopped (1830) so I quickly put up the bear hang while there was good light. I hate doing that in the dark.
Another nice night alone in the tent. Looking forward to a shower tomorrow.
Today marks over 200 miles of trail complete!
