At 3°C (37°F) it was yet another cold morning with wet clothes. Started the day hiking down Smarts Mountain and then up Mount Cube. Got a brief view when I dipped below the clouds.
The hiking was rocky and wet. More rain than I had anticipated given the forecast, but at this point it seems like rain is just the new normal. After slowly climbing up Mt. Cube I get my classic fog view.
Heading down is always a little more treacherous. I slipped and fell twice but didn't seem to hurt anything other than my pride. I passed Pink Shoes who is hiking the northern half of the trail and she told me her husband was at the next road with some trail magic.
Sure enough, her husband Kent was there with sodas and chips. I had some treats while I chatted with him. He likes doing trail magic while supporting his wife's hikes.
Pressed on through rolling hills with miles of muddy and watery trail. Not much to see.
I passed through a tiny town with a hiker hostel towards the end. I planned to get off the trail after tomorrow, so despite the strong draw of a warm, dry evening I pressed on to the next shelter.
Nobody else camping tonight, I had the place to myself.
