Slept in a bit to make up for the late night last night. We packed up camp and had some breakfast before beginning the hike up to Franconia Ridge.

The ridge went over Little Haystack mountain and then two 5000ft peaks of Mt. Lincoln and Mt. Lafayette. I was overjoyed to finally get views above the treeline.

We ran into a group out hiking for a birthday. The gentleman was turning 48 and had arranged to hike Mt. Lafayette for the 48th time on that day. What a cool way to celebrate!

After the ridge we headed down to Garfield pond and then up over Garfield Mountain. This one had a great view looking back at the Franconia Ridge we had come over.

Ended the day at Garfield Ridge shelter. The trees in the forest were quite dense and we hadn't seen any dispersed camping opportunities, so we wanted a designated camping area. The shelter is a bonus for the overnight rain.

Overall a great day to be walking with cool air and distant views. It was fun to talk shop and catch up with Kyle, we hadn't gotten a chance to do that for a while.

Late in the evening another hiker arrived, unpacked, and went to bed.
