Only occasional light rain overnight. Started the hike with Saddleback Junior which offered the nice view for the day.

Most of the day was walking along forested paths. At one point I heard a loud crash and something large ran off into the woods. Unsure what it was but it sounded like a large bear or maybe a moose. There were plenty of moose tracks around.

The trail went down so I could ford another stream before going up and over Lone, Spaulding, and Sugarloaf mountains. According to the map Sugarloaf has extensive skiing. I passed a sign commemorating the final section of the AT being constructed by the CCC.

The trail continued to vary with rocks, mud, and roots. But longer stretches of nice flat footpath were a treat I was getting more of. Here's a good idea of the rooty sections, which can quite slippery when wet.

Ended up at Crocker Cirque Campsite. It was a shorter day, but I was feeling yesterday's miles, and there wasn't a good option for camping in the next 4 miles or so. It was a nice day so getting in early gave time to read a bit before dinner.

The campsite was in great condition and had a nice babbling stream to put me to sleep.
